Happy Birthday To Us!

It’s official. Tuna Traffic is 3 spankin’ years old! As any proud parent knows, turning 3 brings all sorts of important developmental milestones. Join us on our journey, as we celebrate how far we’ve come. (And how far we have to go? Hmmm…well… maybe. Read on and we’ll let you decide.) 3 is the Magic Number Those smart doctors with the American Academy of Pediatrics say that year 3 is a magical year, a time dominated by fantasy and vivid imagination. We couldn’t agree more. Let’s start with the Movement Milestones that we’ve clearly hit. Throws ball overhand Catches bounced…

Meet Crowsby, Scarecrow Extraordinaire

There’s a couple of things about autumn in Wisconsin that we here at Tuna Traffic can’t resist. The crisp, cool air. The trees painted vivid shades of yellows and reds. The aroma of a freshly frothed pumpkin spice latte. (Well, maybe not that last one. Like cilantro, the pumpkin spice latte is kind of a love-hate thing.) A hard core Scarecrow Building Competition. Yes. We said Scarecrow Building  Competition. And, yes. We rocked it. Our friends at Apple Holler hosted a Scarecrow Building Competition and advertised it as a great team-building exercise. And if there’s one thing that the Tuna Team…

How Tuna Traffic Got Its Name

Autumn 2010 It was an average night in Racine,Wisconsin. The air was temperate; not humid or arid. As the moon cast down its envious light across the city, a classic autumn breeze rolled through the meeting room window of the Comfort Inn & Suites on Highway 20… Doug Shimp and Mike Zielonka sat down in an ordinary room where less ordinary thoughts were pondered by the two gentlemen’s minds. Countless hours had been put in, surrounded in inquiry. The birth of a company was about to take place. The ideas for the company had been constructed, nailed together from ideas…

A Tale of Two WordCamp Cities

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness…” Never fear, Tuna friends, we’re not starting a required summer reading list and demanding you delve into a little Charles Dickens before 10th grade starts in the fall. That being said, the opening line of A Tale of Two Cities seems oh-so fitting to describe the innovations, excitement and, let’s face it,  insanity that surrounds the wonderful and wacky world of WordPress web design and development. Windy City WordCamp We continue to beam about the Tuna…

Another WordCamp Comes To A Close

The kids are home from camp! Our dearest Mike and Lisa have returned from their exciting weekend at WordCamp Milwaukee.  It was a weekend full of WordPress lovers–eager to learn, share and network with other WordPress enthusiasts. The event was a success, Mike’s presentation went off without a hitch, and no one was sent home early for being out of their bunks past curfew. As always, WordCamp had a fabulous lineup of speakers, workshops and topics. So, if you found yourself in a “Do I go to Arts and Crafts or Archery” type situation, and you weren’t able to make…

Tuna Goes Off To WordCamp

Their sleeping bags are nicely rolled,  they’re loaded up with bug spray and they’ve stashed away a few postcards to write to us at Tuna School in case they get home sick. It’s time for Tuna’s very own Mike Zielonka and Lisa Dodd to head off to camp. WordCamp, Miwaukee, that is. What is WordCamp Milwaukee? Both Mike and Lisa have assured the rest of us at Tuna Traffic that they will not be spending their WordCamp time making lanyards and singing  campfire songs. So, what is WordCamp, then? It’s a 3-day event in June for people who are gaga over…

Mike Guest Blogs on ZippyKid About Dedicated IP Addresses And SEO

Like a proud parent, Tuna is beaming with pride over our own Mike Zielonka. Being an SEO expert, he was asked to guest blog for ZippyKid regarding dedicated IP addresses and SEO. Here’s a teaser from the blog: Back in December my friend and ZippyKid owner, Vid Luther and I had an interesting discussion on Facebook regarding dedicated IPs and SEO. The discussion stemmed from the original thought provoking post by Vid: “Dear ‘SEO consultants’, Please stop telling people to put their sites on different IP’s. Every time I hear this, I tell our customers to find different SEO consultants.”…
